Immigration question Empty Immigration question

I see that the question of immigration has resurfaced in the campaign. The Dream Act had its points and now seems to have been modified some. That's how the process works in our political process. The last 7 years of my teaching was working with this population. While the parents may have paid a coyote to sneek them into this country, the children were either very young or born here (Anchor-babies). By the letter of the law, these children are citizens of the United states whether anyone likes it or not. The lastest program announced by the President addresses some of the concerns regarding the status of the immigrant population. Of course there will now be a counter-point to this action. The basic issue, as I see it, is that there are whose who will only tolerate the White-Anglo-Saxon-Protestant cultural dominent postion.

What I don't like is the way he (Obama) did it bypassing congress. I feel we need to secure the borders and have them come in legally (it's not just mexicans that sneak across). And yes there needs to be some reform for the ones here but not sure how/what?? My SIL is hispanic and my grandson in law is Puerto Rican. And us whities are already becoming a minority. affraid

Congress is ineffective and in a case of gridlock. I hold out little hope for the near future if any meaningful legislation being passed and signed. I happen to feel that the concept of the "Dream Act" had some very positive aspects to it. However, us "Whities" are fearful of becoming a minority class. This doesn't bother me in the least.

Agreed VOF. I'd like to treat them like I did my kids when they misbehaved. Mad
